On May 25, 2022 the Xycle Group (Xycle) announced the development and construction of their first pyrolysis plant in the Port of Rotterdam. This plant will recycle plastics into a useable oil as a responsible raw material for the production of new plastics and is planned to start operation in Q4 of 2023.
Development of this particular plant started in 2021 and KCI was approached in Q4 2021 to provide the following services:
- Basic Engineering for Piping and Mechanical disciplines
- Interface management between disciplines
- Overall 3D model management
- Project management assistance
Xycle operates out of Willemstad (NL), but the pyrolysis technology and process design is provided by Patpert Teknow in India. As part of the interface management scope KCI also has frequent interface meetings with Patpert Teknow to ensure that all interfaces match in the overall plant design.
With the Basic Design nearing completion, Xycle has also requested KCI to assist in Procurement Management and to provide Detail Engineering services for the Piping and Mechanical scope.
