What’s it all about?

You are enthusiastic and able to design offshore sub-structures (jackets, tripods, monopiles, transition pieces, etc) and topsides (deck structures, modules, supporting frames, etc.) for fixed offshore structures as well as temporary structures for the load-out, transport, lifting and installation of forementioned objects.

What will you do as a Lead Designer Structural?

You will make concept, basic and detail designs by means of 3D modelling and in 2D drawings for the primary and secondary steel of the various fixed offshore constructions typically found in the wind farms and in the oil & gas production facilities. It also involves the design of temporary structures (such as sea fastening and grillages, upending and guiding structures, lifting provisions etc.) for the load-out, transport, lifting and installation operations with transport barges and heavy lift and installation vessels on behalf of installation contractors.

As a Lead Designer you will also be capable to lead a team of designers, monitor the progress and the planning, advise on technical matters in other projects and act in a consultancy role towards clients.

In the role of Lead Designer you will report to the project manager and work together with other engineering disciplines and client counterpart.

You will be working at our office in Rotterdam with the flexibility to work 50% of your time from home. To ensure a nice balance between work and fun, various social events and activities are being organized as well! The department where you will be working consists of approximately 30 Structural (Lead) Designers and (Lead) Engineers.

You are capable to keep an overview and have organizational talent. But you also have the (communication) skills to deal well with clients, to advise them and to maintain the relationship.

What else is required for the job?

KCI Offshore Engineering considers it important for this position that you bring the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Structural Engineering;
  • 5+ years experience in structural discipline and relevant market;
  • 3+ years experience in this or similar position;
  • Design experience: Jackets & Monopiles and topsides for the Offshore Wind market
    and installation provisions for the offshore industry;
  • Advanced user of Tekla is a must, experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks/Solid edge,
    E3D is nice to have;
  • Good knowledge of English and preferably also Dutch (both written and verbal);
  • Team player and like to solve problems instead of making them;
  • Competences: adaptability, assertiveness, critical thinking, focus on quality, problem
    analysis, result-orientation.
