Sail away giant Wikinger substation jacket, designed by KCI

On 10 August the giant jacket for the Wikinger substation has set sail from Cadiz to its final destination in the German Baltic Sea.

Iberdrola awarded KCI with the Concept, Basic and Detailed design of this  jacket which is in fact the largest AC substation jacket ever built.
It is a 6 legged pre-piled jacket weighing 2500 tonnes and measuring 49m x 27m x 43m (LxWxH) and was built by Navantia shipyard at Puerto Real, Cadiz. 

The jacket is going to support two topsides weighing 5500 tonnes in total and will be placed at a water depth of 38.9 metres.
